RE: Canada Day LW?

Lets see here..... I have some clients that are taking Monday off and working Tuesday and I have other clients that are working Monday and taking Tuesday off. So either I only take a regular weekend and then work both Monday AND Tuesday or I take a vacation day and make it a 4 day weekend and go camping. I wonder what I should do............................This could be a tough decision. NOT!!! :B

RE: Calgary to Winnipeg - scenic route, sights, campspots?

Just west of Brandon there is a town with a long swinging bridge. I've been there once and it seems like a nice little town. Just can't remember the name... Happy travels That would be Souris and its about 10 miles south of Brandon.

RE: Who has had an unusual European car?

My mom drove around in one of these with left hand drive though. http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B14386.jpg Note the sliding windows, they didn't roll down. Hers was painted in Camaro racing orange. Talk about an attention getter. I think the wood trim eventually held the car together. It was the only thing that didn't rust.

RE: Help locating a first travel trailer

Check these out if you have a dealer in your area: http://www.pilgrimintl.com/index.php/intl/public/rv/floorPlan/product/pilgrim-1500-tt I've got the 27PBH (Mine's an '07 and was still called the 27LBH) I'm towing it with an '04 Silverado 1500 crew cab with the 5.3 litre and 3.73 gears. We're starting our third season and its a great combo, even in the mountains.

RE: Need advice: Are we in danger of a catastrophe here?

Yes they will explode! Yes they will catch fire! Yes you do need to disconnect all sources TO them NOW!!! The gas being emmitted from them is not steam like like boiling water on the stove it is hydrogen gas. Like the Hindenberg was filled with. Yes the Hindenberg was filled with hydrogen and charging batteries emit hydrogen gas, but hydrogen does not spontaneously combust. It NEEDS to have a source of ignition. Yes batteries CAN explode, but its quite uncommon. No, batteries will NOT catch on fire. Once the hydrogen goes off, there is nothing else left to burn. Electrolyte does NOT burn since it 65% water. As previously posted, unplug BEFORE disconnecting the battery leads. If you don't, there's your source of ignition. It seems like you have a serious problem with your converter, but you didn't tell us how old your battery is. Sounds to me like the 2 outer cells have failed. These cells will have lower than normal voltage. Since the converter is looking for for a certain voltage (The trip point) the battery is not getting up there and the converter is still charging at a high current rate. Either way, you need a new battery and the converter checked.

RE: Gadgets that made you say, "What was I thinking?"...

I have a personal addiction to candle holders. All shapes and sizes.. And there is always one which is just the perfect color, style, shape or whatever. The collection is getting out of control. Don't feel bad. DW sells them (Party Lite). I think she does it to support her scrapbooking habit. The half of my house that's not taken up by candles and holders is full of scrapbooking supplies. Both are totally out of control.

RE: Hey what's going on!

Only -1c? We've got -12c with wind chills in the -20's. I just got back in from clearing 8" of snow off the driveway. Last Sunday we were +23c and I actually almost put the snowblower away in the shed. Can someone please tell me when this global warming thing is actually going to start.:h

RE: Not again please!!!!

grinder, 8th Av got paved a while back so the mud's not so bad anymore. But I might consider camping there as it's almost impossible to get a spot in any of the local campgrounds these days.

RE: Not again please!!!!

lanerd, Might be dicey yet on May 20th. The worst snow storm that I ever saw in Calgary happened on May 16, 1986. Its not all bad though because the temperature usually warms up in a few days and melts it all into a nice big sticky pile of mud in the campgrounds....;) Enjoy your trip.

RE: Set up times ?

It usually takes me about three beers to get set up ... I'm about the same once the truck's parked. We usually get the basic stuff done in 20 to 30 minutes. That's leveled, hooked up to power & water, awning out, mat laid down, BBQ set up. Those are my jobs. DW ties up the dogs, gets out the camp stove, lounge chairs, coffee pot, etc. I keep the 20# LPG tank, cooler & bikes in the back of the truck so they come off quickly. We've sort of got it down to a routine now and we can each get our tasks done without tripping all over each other now. If we're more than a couple of days, then we start hanging the awning lights and stretching out a clothes line for swimsuits and towels, but those aren't the necessary items and they can easily wait until I've grilled up the steaks and had another couple of refreshments.

RE: Anyone else getting hit with bad weather?

Our forecast on Wednesday evening was "Scattered showers with the possibility of a few snow flurries" This is not unusual at this time of year around here. The reality, however, was on Thursday morning when we got 8" of wet, heavy snow in 5 hours. I'm posting this on Saturday and the temp is now in the low to mid 60's with tomorrow's forecast for the high 60's to low 70's. Our weather is totally whacked out just about all of the time. Kinda like Denver's.

RE: Canada Here We Come

Had to use the phone for making reservations for Bow Valley CG in the Kananaskis PP At least you got through to them on the phone. I was trying to get a site for May long weekend and all I got was a busy signal all weekend.:(

RE: Maxxair , where to buy

Do a check on E-bay. There's an outfit in New York state called Mantelli's that quite often has a 2 pack for around $35US or a 3 pack for a little under $60US with fairly reasonable shipping (About $35US for the 3 pack)

RE: take the year you were born.....

Hey! Wait a minute! I wanna play too, but I don't have a zip code. Up here we have postal codes that are alpha-numeric. Do I convert the letters to numbers with A = 1, B = 2 and so on or can I substitute my phone number instead? Do I need to use the area code as well? Maybe I should just use my social insurance number since its the same number of digits as the phone number with area code. Should I maybe divide this number by the year of my first car and the add my IQ rating to it? So many questions. I'm so confused now.:h I hope you sleep well tonight.

RE: battery resurrection ??

Try sealing the other cells and dumping out the electrolyte from the bad cell. Flush it with water and shake and thump it. Then drain and replace the electrolyte. If that doesn't do it, then try to desulfate it by putting in some EDTA per Home Power magazines instructions. Aint gonna work. If one cell is sulfated then the other cells will be sulfated also. Hate to say it, but its a bad cell, therefore its a bad battery. 2 weeks ago I replaced 4 T-105's on a customer's scissor lift that were only 1 1/2 yrs old, but he forgot to maintain them. I put a litre of water into each cell and stuck them on charge. Only 1 battery came up and the other 3 each had 1 bad cell so they got scrapped.
